Domaine Albert Mann
Alsace makes some of my favorite wines, and some of France's best white wines as well. I believe, the Domaine Albert Mann is one of the best there is in Alsace. The winery is run under the guidance of the brothers Barthelmé. The brothers, named Jacky and Maurice (Maurice is married to the late Albert Manns grand-daughter), run their domaine as a family business. Their farming practices and wine making follow bio-dynamic principles. Of course, their Grand Cru Riesling is stellar, as is the Gewurtraminer. The standout Pinot Noir is in my opinion the best in Alsace, period.
Everything they make is great, and this week I suggest their Pinot Blanc. It’s on the lighter side for Alsace but still has plenty of texture and body that you get in Alsatian wines. The wine is crisp and delicious, perfect with late summer BBQ of grilled spicy shrimp, corn or a relish of Hatch Chiles.

Münster is the quintessential cheese of Alsace. It’s a washed rinsed cows milk cheese that can be one of the most challenging cheeses that we carry because the rind is super strong. When young, the rinds are chalky and a touch creamy but as they age they become quite the little stinker. A perfect pairing with white Alsatian wines.
