White wines made in Beaujolais account for less than 1% of the total production of the AOC. Tasting this superb Chardonnay may lead some local vigneron to rethink that. This Chardonnay is exciting - I believe Chardonnays to be serious, great wines but exciting is not a term I'd often use. This makes me believe that term can be used again for Chardonnay.The Lucien Lardy Beaujolais-Villages Blanc has a wonderful nose of pears and dried apricots yet is extremely vibrant just like the nose you would find in red Beaujolais. This wine is youthful and lively, a perfect wine to sip or gulp (whichever you prefer) on a Spring afternoon .
I like this wine with grilled swordfish dusted with fennel pollen or some local prawns. A little cheese is always a perfect accompaniment.
A moist velvety goats milk cheese from south-central France (Auvergne). It's pasty, zesty and milky fresh. A perfect cheese for the spring time and with a little Beaujolais Blanc. Very seasonal, this wheel won't be in the store for long!
